Location: Robotto office, Aalborg, Denmark
Employment type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Primarily on-site at our Aalborg office, with flexibility when needed
Do you want to build computer-vision technology that helps autonomous drones understand and navigate the real world?
At Robotto, we build advanced autonomy and software solutions for drones and unmanned systems. Our work brings together computer vision, edge computing, software, electronics and real-world product development.
We are looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to help develop and improve the perception capabilities behind our drone platform. You will work on challenging real-world problems where robust vision, accurate localisation and reliable performance matter.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys turning computer-vision ideas into practical solutions that can perform outside the lab, in demanding real-world environments.
The role
You will join a technical team working on autonomy for drones and unmanned systems. In this role, you will contribute directly to the computer-vision capabilities that support object detection, visual-inertial odometry and other perception-related challenges.
You will work closely with software, control, flight-test and electronics colleagues to take computer-vision ideas from development into robust solutions that can be used in real-world environments.
What you will do
- Develop, test and improve computer-vision algorithms for Robotto’s drone and autonomy platform.
- Work with object detection, tracking, visual-inertial odometry and related perception challenges.
- Build and evaluate robust solutions that can perform in real-world and operationally demanding environments.
- Collaborate with software, control, flight-test and electronics colleagues to integrate computer-vision components into the wider platform.
- Support data collection, analysis and performance evaluation for vision-based solutions.
- Investigate technical issues, validate results and contribute to continuous improvement of the perception stack.
- Contribute to technical discussions, documentation and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
What success could look like in your first 3–6 months
- You have developed a strong understanding of Robotto’s platform, use cases and computer-vision priorities.
- You have contributed to improving one or more perception capabilities, such as object detection, tracking or visual-inertial odometry.
- Your work is integrated effectively with the software, control and flight-test teams.
- You can evaluate algorithm performance, identify limitations and suggest practical improvements.
- You are contributing to a stronger, more reliable computer-vision foundation for the next stage of product development.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in computer vision and a genuine interest in building technology that works outside the lab.
- Experience in computer vision, robotics, machine learning, autonomy or a closely related technical field.
- Knowledge of object detection, visual-inertial odometry, visual SLAM, tracking or other perception methods.
- Strong C++ programming skills, and knowledge on Python for algorithm development, testing and prototyping.
- Experience evaluating algorithms using data, test scenarios and measurable performance criteria.
- A good understanding of how vision systems interact with sensors, software and real-world environments.
- Experience with drones, robotics, embedded-adjacent systems or edge computing is an advantage.
- Professional fluency in English.
- A degree in computer vision, robotics, computer science, engineering or a related field is preferred; relevant project, research or industry experience is equally welcome.
Who you are
You are curious, analytical and comfortable working through complex problems where the answer is not always obvious. You enjoy collaborating with other technical specialists and translating experiments into practical outcomes.
- Are excited by applied computer vision and real-world autonomy challenges.
- Are comfortable working in a startup or scale-up environment where priorities evolve as the company grows.
- Take ownership of your work and communicate progress, risks and findings clearly.
- Value testing, iteration and learning from real-world performance.
- Enjoy working closely with colleagues across multiple technical disciplines.
Our hiring process
Our process is designed to be straightforward and conversational:
- Introductory conversation with our Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Partner
A chance to learn more about Robotto, the role and what you are looking for.
- Meeting with the Hiring Manager / Principal Engineer
A deeper conversation about your technical background, approach and experience relevant to the role.
- Leadership meeting
A conversation with members of the leadership team. This stage may include a short case discussion or live scenario relevant to the role.
- Offer
If there is a strong mutual fit, we will move forward with an offer.
Why join Robotto?
Robotto is building advanced autonomy technology for drones and unmanned systems, working at the intersection of software, hardware, computer vision and real-world operations.
You will join a highly technical, ambitious team at an exciting point in the company’s journey. This is not a role where everything is already defined. It is an opportunity to contribute to products that move from advanced technology into real-world impact.
You will have the chance to work closely with talented engineers, contribute to meaningful products and projects, and help shape Robotto’s next stage of growth.
