Location: Robotto office, Aalborg, Denmark
Employment type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Primarily on-site at our Aalborg office, with flexibility when needed
Are you excited by building, testing and improving the electronics that power advanced autonomous drone technology?
At Robotto, we build advanced autonomy and software solutions for drones and unmanned systems. Our work brings together computer vision, edge computing, software, electronics and real-world product development.
We are looking for a Hardware Engineer who enjoys taking electronic designs from concept through schematics, prototypes, assembly and practical testing for drones and autonomous systems.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable with electronic schematics, prototype assembly, testing and troubleshooting, and who enjoys being close to both the lab and the product.
The role
You will play an important role in developing and validating the electronics behind Robotto’s drone platform. You will work closely with software, control, flight-test and computer-vision colleagues to ensure that hardware components are practical, reliable and ready for real-world use.
The role will combine design, build, testing and integration work, with room to influence how hardware is developed and validated as the company grows.
What you will do
- Design and develop electronic schematics for drone and product-related hardware.
- Work with external partners or suppliers on PCB layout, manufacturing and component-related needs where relevant.
- Assemble, integrate and test electronic prototypes and subsystems.
- Plan and carry out practical electronic testing, validation and troubleshooting.
- Support the selection and integration of relevant components such as IMUs, cameras, motors, controllers and related systems.
- Collaborate with software and firmware colleagues on hardware-software integration.
- Contribute to firmware-related work in C and/or C++ where relevant.
- Document test results, technical decisions, issues and improvements clearly.
- Support flight-test and product-development activities as needed.
What success could look like in your first 3–6 months
- You have developed a strong understanding of Robotto’s drone hardware architecture and product requirements.
- You have contributed to one or more hardware designs, prototypes or test setups that move the product forward.
- Electronic components and subsystems are tested more systematically, with clear findings and next steps.
- Hardware-software integration issues are identified and resolved more efficiently.
- You are a trusted, hands-on technical partner for the software, control and flight-test teams.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who has built and tested real electronics and is comfortable moving between design, assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
- Experience in electronics, hardware engineering, embedded systems, robotics, drones or a related field.
- Hands-on experience creating electronic schematics and working with PCB design or layout partners.
- Experience assembling, testing and troubleshooting electronic systems or prototypes.
- Knowledge of components and systems relevant to drones or robotics, such as IMUs, cameras, motors, motor controllers and sensors.
- Understanding of firmware programming in C and/or C++ is an advantage.
- Experience with test equipment, validation methods and documentation is preferred.
- Professional fluency in English.
- A degree in electronics, electrical engineering, robotics, embedded systems or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is welcome.
Who you are
You are hands-on, methodical and enjoy turning a technical idea into something that can be built, tested and improved. You are comfortable getting into the details and working closely with colleagues across disciplines.
- Enjoy practical engineering and learning through building and testing.
- Are comfortable in a fast-moving startup or scale-up environment where priorities can evolve.
- Take ownership of technical problems and follow them through to a practical solution.
- Communicate clearly and document your work so others can build on it.
- Enjoy working close to the product and seeing your work make a visible difference.
Our hiring process
Our process is designed to be straightforward and conversational:
- Introductory conversation with our Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Partner
A chance to learn more about Robotto, the role and what you are looking for.
- Meeting with the Hiring Manager / Principal Engineer
A deeper conversation about your technical background, approach and experience relevant to the role.
- Leadership meeting
A conversation with members of the leadership team. This stage may include a short case discussion or live scenario relevant to the role.
- Offer
If there is a strong mutual fit, we will move forward with an offer.
Why join Robotto?
Robotto is building advanced autonomy technology for drones and unmanned systems, working at the intersection of software, hardware, computer vision and real-world operations.
You will join a highly technical, ambitious team at an exciting point in the company’s journey. This is not a role where everything is already defined. It is an opportunity to contribute to products that move from advanced technology into real-world impact.
You will have the chance to work closely with talented engineers, contribute to meaningful products and projects, and help shape Robotto’s next stage of growth.
